Colors By Llarowe: Gizmo (formerly known as Zoe)

Hi everyone!  Sorry for the delay in posting, but life in general has gotten in the way of my nail polish obsession for a bit.  I do have quite a bit of new swatches to post, but today I am going to start with one of the Colors by Llarowe: Gizmo (formerly known as Zoe).

Gizmo is a deep moss green shade with holographic shimmer. These colors don't usually look that great on me, but this one is definitely a stunning shade!

Here is the information about the inspiration for the shade from Llarowe's site:

"This collection is named after my band of crazy kittens.
Gizmo (formerly known as Zoe) is the only kitten that has left the gang.  Sandy, in shipping, fell in love with her, who then turned into a he when the vet announced she was actually a he.  Gizmo still visits frequently and has the most amazing khaki/blue eyes.  This polish is a reflection of those amazing eyes.
Deep khaki holographic with blue flash.
A portion of the proceeds from sale of this polish will benefit the ASPCA."

I had to file all my nails down to stubs recently because I keep getting break after break after break.  I do have to say that Gizmo looks fantastic on short nails!

I did have a bit of a problem with application. I think I need to add a drop of thinner to this to help make it go on more smoothly. It is also a bit on the sheer side, so I used 3 coats for these photos. I probably needed one more coat, but just like with the OPI Designer Series shades, I had to wait a long time in between coats to avoid denting the polish. This is just something to do with me, and I cannot say if anyone else need to allow a long time in between coats to get it to dry. Every single polish I own that has this type of holo shimmer takes forever to dry on me (Jade, OPI, etc.) and dents up to even a day later.

Gizmo can be ordered directly from Llarowe!

Polish Request: Looking for bottles of original Nfu Oh 64

If anyone out there happens to have an original bottle of Nfu Oh 64 and would be willing to part with them, please send me an email at goldenankh@me.com. The one I am looking for would have no batch number listed on the bottom, and appears VERY holo in the bottle as well as on the nail. I am willing to purchase outright or do a trade. I am kicking myself for only purchasing one bottle back in 2009, and as it is my #1 favorite nail polish, I would love to get my hands on a few more bottles!

Nabi 3D Hologram: #10 Navy Blue

Nabi #10 is a medium navy blue polish.  It wasn't as dark as I was expecting it to be, but it is really pretty once on the nail.  It actually wasn't the best shade of blue for my skin tone, but I loved it anyways! Photos below are 2 coats of polish over one coat of Instant Artificials. My NYC Grand Central Station did dull the holo when I used it as a top coat, so photos below are without any top coat.

Perfect Holographic: H7

Perfect Holographic H7 is a lovely dark purple holographic polish. It is almost identical to the long-discontinued Sally Hansen Magical Nail Make Up in Purple Potion, so if you have been lemming that one and cannot locate a bottle, I highly recommend this one!

I did need to add a few drops of thinner to the bottle to help make it easier to apply.  I do recommend using an aqua base with this.  Once I thinned the polish a bit, I could use my trusty NYC Grand Central Station as a top coat with no dulling!

You definitely, absolutely, need to shake the hell out of this bottle to mix the color and holo particles together.  For some reason the holo particles separate from the color and sink to the bottom. The more time you spend shaking the bottle, the better holographic payout you will get.

Perfect Holographics are 6ml and are very small.  You can order them from beautycosmetic.biz but please keep in mind that the seller is in Bulgaria and shipping could take a while depending on where you live and how your customs office treats the package.

Nabi 3D Hologram: #24 Purple

Below are swatches of Nabi 3D Hologram #24 Purple.  It is a dark magenta/purple with a scattered holographic effect.  I used one coat of Instant Artificials and two coats of #24 Purple.  I did not use a top coat because it does dull the overall effect to the point that it is no longer holographic.

My camera pulled a little more magenta on these photos than the color is in real life.  It is a tad more purple than in my photos.
